Peetre genealogy

places we've been

Welcome

This website presents parts of a family tree branching out over northern and eastern Europe.

Countries covered are mainly Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Hungary, Germany and the Netherlands with detours to Russia, the US and Palestine (today Israel).

My research has been published in three chronicles (very limited editions) and selected chapters of these chronicles can be found under Farmers (watermill Krubbemölla et c), Soldiers (e g grenadier Bruse fighting side by side with Carl XII during the heroized king's last days alive) and Migrants (e g refugee ship Triina from Tallinn to Stockholm in 1944). Most chapters are in Swedish, two in English and a scanned book written by my paternal grandmother in German.

Please contact me if you can add new information or have questions.

Kind regards,

Johan Peetre

My paternal grandfather had a brother Eduard Peterson (1900-1937) born in  Pärnu, Estonia who was executed in Moscow after the Moscow-Volga Canal had been completed by forced labour. He at least had a daughter born in the Soviet Union and in the hope of someday getting in contact with that branch of our family (by googling) I post his full name in cyrillic letters.

Петерсон Эдуард Яковлевич

*Possibly altered to be able to start working after the family had been evacuated from Riga to Oryol, Russia in 1915. Eduard had a short education.

Another explanation is that the year was altered for him to be able to join the Red Army (min. age 18) in 1917 which gave privileges like food rations.
